Need some inspiration? Here are 16 thoughts for you. Everyone can be built in a weekend with common materials. Plan in advance, bring your cut sizes to a home center and let them cut the wood for you. Craft stores and fabric stores have the rest of what you need. Have fun!
Take a cornice board. Attach some crown molding to the bottom then paint it with the house paint color (use three costs so it is thick). The thick paint will hide any discrepancies
Take a cornice board and cover it with canvas. No padding is needed, just wrap it. The look will be somewhat modern, somewhat masculine.
Try adding a continental rod and continental plus covering to a basic canvas covered board. This one is easy, quick and stunning.
Use Cirmosa rods on top a painted cornice. If you can finish the board with a piano finish do it. If not use glossy oil base house paint. (remember to sand your boards before applying the paint and work in a vented area).
Add crown molding and a small thin band of wood to your basic cornice. Texture the entire treatment to match your wall. Use a texture splatter gun (rent it from your paint store).
Take a Cirmosa rod and slip a fabric sleeve over it, pull it tight. Cover the basic cornice with fabric and light batting. Very fast with little sewing. Everyone likes this one.
Cover 1/4 inch plywood or paperboard with three different fabrics. Use a staple gun for the plywood or a glue gun for the paperboard. An alternative to fabric would be to paint the wood and then layer it.
Fold napkins, iron them with starch then layer in an interesting symmetrical pattern. Staple to a 1x2 inch board. Attach flowers, tassels or whatever to the bottom with hot glue. You can wash the starch out if you make a mistake and start again.
Cut petal shapes from paperboard, cover them with fabric, staple them to a board, cover your staples with crown molding. Bet you have not seen this one?
Cool napkin idea again, cover a 1x4 inch board with fabric and staple starched napkins to it. done!
This one will require more napkins and a sense of balance. Careful not to make it too sawtooth looking.
Use paperboard to create the petals, cover them with fabric and staple the petals to a board. Stretch fabric over a Cirmosa rod very tight. This is nice!
Same game here except use some pointy petals and make them all out of 1/4 inch plywood or very sturdy paperboard.
Use some ribbon to dress up the side of your pole wrap, use more than one color for your jabots. Neat huh!
Fabric stapled to a board and draped. Then staple a petticoat under. Looks interesting. Men will like this one too.
Using an iron pole and a 1/2 inch board, staple the swags to the board behind the pole. Use three muted colors to get this look.
